Econfuel Dispencing Records

Effective from 1 April 2026, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) has updated the Diesel Refund Scheme to allow for a 100% refund on eligible diesel used in primary mining activities. To qualify, mines must maintain detailed logbooks that are subject to rigorous audits to substantiate their claims.

Afrigle Innovations EconFuel digital Logbook captures comprehensive data for every dispensing transaction via IoT system management devices. In addition, Econfuel automates the full supply, stock-on-hand, and dispensing reconciliation reports, which analyse and identify cycle inconsistencies. The reconciliation is executed digitally to eliminate manual manipulation and to comply with SARS audit compliance guidelines.

Fuel Balance Cycle Elements

1. Storage Data Log Requirements (For on-site storage tanks)

  • Capacity of each tank.

  • Dates and volumes of diesel received, removed, disposed of, or lost.

  • Details of machinery or equipment into which diesel was dispensed.

  • Monthly opening and closing balances of storage levels.

2. Usage Data Log Requirements (Per vehicle/equipment)

  • Asset Details: Serial number, identification marking, and type of vehicle or equipment (e.g., dump truck, excavator).

  • Activity Details: Date and time of usage, purpose of use (specifically detailing the qualifying activity).

  • Performance Metrics: Odometer/hour meter readings and diesel consumption rate (e.g., Litres/hour).

  • Fuel Source: Which tank dispensed the diesel
